My name is Sofia I. Gonzalez and I am very passionate about Global Health. I love kids and my goal is to one day become a pediatrician. When it comes to chronic diseases I have a special place in my heart for Asthma because my dad and brother have struggled with it for a while. This is why for my research I focused on asthma rates differing in regions with the biggest risk of triggers from hurricanes. I also work in research with type 1 diabetes, where I am apart of multiple studies that test family members with type 1 diabetes looking to find autoantibodies early on that predict future risk of type 1.
